Discipleship Goals

Using the discipleship module, you can track a person's spiritual progress by setting any number of discipleship goals. These goals will be placed in a hierarchy of prerequisites.

The church should set up goals which make sense for the church. For example, the first goal should be Salvation, then Water Baptism. Water baptism would require the prerequisite of Salvation. A third goal could be Membership, under water baptism. Then add any other goals which you wish tracked for every member in the church (e.g., CLASS1, CLASS2, CLASS3, etc.).

Set up multiple steps for each goal

For every discipleship goal that you create, you can establish several steps. For example, set up a “Welcome Visitor” goal. This goal could have the following steps: send welcome letter by Day 2, follow-up with personal phone call by Day 5, personally meet at church by Day 14, and have person attend welcome potluck by Day 30. You could establish all of these steps. Once you start the “Welcome Visitor” goal for a person, Ascribe will automatically schedule out target dates for each step to be accomplished. Within the system you could generate mail merged letters for step #1 for all those who have not received the letter yet. For step #2, you can record contact log notes of attempts made at phone calls and any notes regarding telephone conversations.

Review at a glance what needs to be done regarding discipleship. Refine the listing to show all persons who have achieved the goal or those that are currently being actively discipled in the goal. Print the listing, mailing labels or mail merged letters.

Set up letter templates which you plan to regularly use for a particular step in the discipleship process. Do a search of persons discipled under a particular step in a discipleship goal and merge the search results with the letter template.
