Joe Stocker, Technology Committee Chair, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, South Carolina Ascribe is easy to use, intuitive, and yields great looking report pages. We still have a lot of work to do loading everybody and everything into Ascribe (we have only done households A through C so far), but I wanted to let you know how enjoyable it is to use Ascribe. Because Ascribe is web-based, I have gathered already some volunteers who will assist me in getting other D through Z households into the database while working from their homes. As more parishioners become aware of Ascribe's capabilities, they are excited and eager to help us launch. I am convinced that Holy Spirit Catholic Church's choice of Ascribe was the best choice we could have made. Also, Truman, don't underestimate the beneficial role of your patient approach to our many questions. When we tried to launch something this complex from a distance with only e-mail contact, your personal involvement was key. Kaala Souza, Senior Pastor, Mana'olana, Honolulu, Hawaii We've been using ascribe now for several years. As senior pastor of our church I was looking for a database-driven system that would be flexible enough for the layout and designs WE wanted to use. In the past, we had tried other offerings that, while powerful, locked us into a certain design pattern. We felt trapped. Two years into our struggle/search we learned of Ascribe. Finally, the answer we were looking for. Database-driven elements on the backend. Flexibility and power on the front. It was a blessing from God! Years later Ascribe has only gotten better. Our leadership can edit and input critical information, activities, contact info on members and more. We are a small church (about 100-150) that doesn't have a dedicated web/communication staff. Communication is vital for us. Ascribe allows for our volunteers to enter information from their own computers on their own time. The service and support from Ascribe is excellent. In fact, I consider the main programmer now to be a friend of mine :). Ascribe is scalable so whether your church is 50 or 5000 or more your set. It's as powerful as you need it to be. Please feel free to contact me (www.manaolana.org) if you have any questions or specific areas you'd like to discuss. Aloha, Kaala Souza Katherine Huske, Katherine Huske & Associates, Basalt, Colorado I run a small marketing company that develops websites for companies primarily in the travel industry. When I offered to develop a new website for my pastor at Christ Community Church in Basalt, Colorado, my pastor felt strongly that he wanted a web-based people database as part of the project. I humored him and suggested that we put that idea on the back burner as I had never done anything even close to that for my corporate accounts. When he asked the third time I decided to Google “web based databases for churches” and compare my findings to see if a small church of 200 really could find an affordable product. I doubted it. What I found was Ascribe, which has been an amazing web-based tool for our church. We purchased a template for under $40 on www.templatemonster.com and subscribed to Ascribe. For a little over $100 per month, our church has the power of a huge church with a web-based database; a professionally designed website that anyone can update and a discipleship module that helps staff track goals of every individual in the church. Every ministry is presented on the site and there is an email component that is easy to use. We can load announcements, prayer requests; praise reports and each can be designated for internal purposes or for the congregation. I would highly recommend Ascribe to any church that desires to develop a new website. It is easy to use, affordable and powerful. Melinda Syvertsen, Church Administrator, Cornerstone Church, Clinton, Connecticut We began using Ascribe in October of 2004. We were looking for a database system that would have the capability of growing with us without losing the "intimate" feeling we wanted to maintain with each member, no matter how many members we add. Now, we are readily using Ascribe. I use it as though it is my right arm! We have successfully entered in all of our members, and have completely updated all kinds of demographic information including emails, cell phones and birthdays. We are now updating our home group information in order to get ready for the fall. I absolutely love Ascribe. The email campaign module has been a great way to keep our body informed and send reminders out to them as needed. We also use it as our prayer chain. And I can't tell you how much we have benefited from utilizing all of the options from the church directory. We are able to "monitor"and run reports on visitors, donations, home group activity, leadership, people who we haven't seen in a while- it has been so great. I find the service we get from Ascribe to be second to none! Especially in the beginning as I got accustomed to the database, I had lots and lots of questions! I am without exception always treated with respect, patience, and kindness. We had some glitches in the beginning, particularly with entering donations, and it would be just minutes between my email to them and the fix on the system. I have always been impressed with the service and friendly attitude that I get from Ascribe. I also go to the Forum, which is an informational site for users to view updates, etc., and ask questions and make suggestions. I have never waited more than a few hours to get a response from Ascribe. As far as security, I feel quite safe using this service. I cannot really see a way that your data could be misused, or have any data that you want to remain private become public. We have never had a situation where there was a complaint about such things. We even have some people who have requested not to receive emails, so they don't- but if myself or our pastors need to, they can. Recently, we had a young man go home to be with the Lord, and he is listed as deceased so as not to receive any mail, etc, but his home group is not quite ready to see his name missing from their records, so he remains for them, but is not made public on our directory, mailings, etc. Implementation was exceedingly easy! My husband, an associate pastor, merged our old system into Ascribe and together we cleaned up the files. For a few hundred names, it took us maybe a week- both of us working on it just a few hours a day. Keeping the records updated is very easy. I took some time to write a manual for some users, and training them took about one hour. The women who count and enter our donations each week took a few weeks to learn it, but given that they were not computer literate and only worked with the system the hour or two it took to count the offering, I was very happy with this. Ascribe makes it very easy to use each module. If it is not spelled out on the screen, there is a help menu that is quite useful. Todd Warfield, Hope Chapel Pearlview, Aiea, Hawaii My wife loves Ascribe. She was using a "homemade" Excel spreadsheet for a while, as she came on-board as financial stewardess for the church. Her frustrations with the thing led to her searching the net for alternatives, which led her to Ascribe. The printing of the year-end statements went very well. ... we're very pleased with the financial system thus far. As long as my wife is happy with it, that's all that matters, & she's raving about it to others |
